THE VEGETALISTA DIET
Listening to the Plants through disciplined dieting

This is a special opportunity especially for participants in Ayahuasca SpiritQuest Listening to the Plants  shamanic healing retreats.  We extend the opportunity to diet a rainforest medicine plant in the traditional vegetalista style.  Preceding work with Ayahuasca is a necessary prerequisite for doing a 'dieta' of this kind.

Vegetalista diets require your commitment to a strict cleansing diet for a period commencing one week before your arrival and continuing for at least three days after concluding your diet.  The diet requires extended periods of isolation in the rainforest at SpiritQuest Shamanic Sanctuary retreat center.  This is a challenging undertaking and not for everyone.

The initiatory diet is for a period of seven days.  Extended diets of up to a month can be undertaken if one has the discipline, will, and stamina for it.

Plants are usually prepared by macerating and/or boiling the leaves in water or extracting their essence in aguardiente (sugar cane alcohol).  The bark of trees and vines are macerated, soaked in water and either boiled or drank fresh.

One may choose to diet teacher plants (plantas maestras) or  healing plants (plantas curanderas).  Some are regarded as both teacher and healer plantsn.  We presently focus our guided diets with two plants noted for their special qualities.

bobinzana (Calliandra angustiflora) - opens the heart, enhances lucid dreaming, and opens one to perceive the spirits of the plants
ajo sacha = forest garlic (Mansoa alliacia) - holistic cleansing and strengthening of the system

PLANTS RECOMMENDED FOR EXTENDED DIETS  OF TWO WEEKS OR MORE ...
uña de gato = cat's claw (Uncaria tomentosa) - restoration of normal immune function, anti-inflammatory, and general tonic
chiric sanango = (Brunfelsia grandifolia) -  the 'fever' tree, a powerful teacher plant.
sanango = ushpahuasha sanango (Tabernaemontana spp.) - opening of the heart and restoring memory
chullachaqui caspi (Brysonima christianeae) - a powerful teacher plant
chuchuhuasi (Maytenus krukovit) - strengthens the body and increases blood circulation
clavohuasca = clove vine (Tynanthus panurensis) - increases blood circulation, relieves arthritis, rheumatism, and impotence
azucar huayo = sugar fruit tree (Hymenaea sp.) - physical renewal
mucura (Alliacea capita) - opens one to visions
guayusa (Ilex guayusa) - renews energy
mapacho = sacred tobacco (Nicotiana rustica) - protection and clarity
tahuarì  (Tabebuia heteropoda) - protection

The following teacher-healer plants require longer advance dieting and are potentially dangerous if not dieted correctly.  These diets are for more advanced shamanic apprentices with more than twenty Ayahuasca experiences.
chiric sanango = fever tree (Brunfelsia grandiflora) - opening of the heart
toé = angel trumpet aka tree datura (Brugmansia suaveolens) - lucid dreaming and foretelling the future

The diets are guided and supevised by the esteemed banco ayahuasquero don Rober A.  . Contact us  to discuss your particular focus of interest and terms of participation.

Ancient Shamanic Knowledge
Huachuma Serpent Mesa works in the Peruvian Amazon

ASK
Huachuma Serpent Mesa
Ceremonies in the Amazon

ASK is especially designed for the SpiritQuest participant who wishes to continue their in-depth holistic discovery of  Nature, Spirit, and Culture of the Peruvian Amazon through the eyes, heart and soul of the shaman within us all.

You are already in the beautiful Peruvian Amazon. You have just completed a marvelously productive week learning to listen to the plants, you are feeling wonderfully rejuvenated and you are having the time of your life. You've clarified your spiritual trajectory and wish to continue your work.

We highly recommend Ancient Shamanic Knowledge as a second-week extension of Ayahuasca SpiritQuest: Listening To The Plants. You will find it the perfect way to digest the new perspectives and positive renewal you have realized from your SpiritQuest Ayahuasca initiation and expand your experiential relationship with plant spirit teachers of Perú and Mesoamerica.

This superb multi-dimensional exploration of Spirit, Self and Nature takes place amidst the natural beauty, spiritual power and cultural diversity of the western Amazon.

Our lovely and comfortable SpiritQuest Shamanic Sanctuary retreat is surrounded by natural old-growth rainforest and riverine environments including the great Amazon River itself. We explore this marvelous natural diversity through daily outings to different locales by boat in the company of people who know the region intimately.

The agenda features shamanic guidance and ceremony with Don Choque Chinchay, the extraordinary transcultural maestro huachumero in the Chavín lineage, and Don Rober A, the remarkable banco ayahuasquero in the Lamista lineage.

The agenda provides an idea of the activities during the extension week. It is flexible according to the focus, pace, stamina, and interests of the participants.
