| Howard
Lawler is
an internationally-recognized biologist, conservationist and environmental
educator. He is a seasoned professional zoologist and ethnobiologist with
over 27 years experience
in the development of conservation, education and research programs for
natural history museums and zoological parks.
He has conducted
educational ecotourism and scientific field studies throughout the southern
United States, Haiti, Mexico, Honduras and the Peruvian Amazon. He has
published over fifty articles
and papers on wildlife, natural history and environmental education
topics.
Howard is a
naturalized citizen of Perú. He is an accomplished and enthusiastic
interpreter of natural and cultural history who will facilitate your interests
in zoology, ecology, and indigenous culture with knowledge and competence. |

Reyna Villacorta
Vasquez is in charge of guest services at Amazon Rainforest Retreat.
She was born in the small jungle village of Bretania at the edge of the
great Pacara Samiria Reserve, Peru's largest remaining rainforest wilderness.
She is intimately familiar with the traditional lifestyle of the Peruvian
Amazon and the vast diversity of flora and fauna inhabiting the region.
She and her sisters will cater to your comfort and nutritional needs while
at Amazon Rainforest Retreat. She and Howard are married and
have a son and daughter, little Howard and Selva Reina. |
Howard
has worked with Native American organizations and communities since 1970
in support of cultural preservation, health and wellness issues, economic
growth, and socio-political self-determination. In the Peruvian Amazon,
he is working with the Bora and Yahua communities along the Río
Momón, and the Huitoto community of the Centro Arenal in the Iquitos
region. He is a sensitive and trusted liaison with the indigenous
peoples who cares deeply about their socioeconomic welfare and cultural
survival. He will open many new doors of friendship and shared multi-cultural
experiences.
Howard is President
and founder of El
Tigre Journeys, an ecologically and culturally focused educational
travel organization. He also serves as volunteer Director of South American
Programs for the
International
BioPark Foundation, a non-profit natural history and cultural organization
based in Tucson, Arizona, U.S.A.
As
our guest at Amazon Rainforest Retreat, you will experience a unique and
personal view of Amazonian life and lifestyle outside the standard tourist
