The Chavín culture has been dated by archeologists as beginning about 3,500 B.C.
Based on the religious iconography depicting an anaconda, a jaguar, and a harpy eagle as the shamanic icons of the lower, middle, and upper shamanic worlds, there is little doubt that the founders of Chavin actually came
from the Amazon.They possessed highly advanced knowledge of the shamanic arts
upon arrival in the Andes.The Chavin sparked an unprecedented explosion of high culture, extraordinary art, and extraordinarily sophisticated shamanic religion which gained the following of countless ancient South American peoples and lasted in it's heyday for over a millennium. It continues today.
Virtually every subsequent culture was influenced in some way by the Chavin model of civilization. For this reason Chavin is called the cradle of Andean civilization.
The Chavín master shaman priests who administered the sacred healing medicines to legions of pilgrims to the Jaguar Temple over hundreds of years were certainly the greatest shamans of all time given the magnitude of their contributions to the genesis of Andean civilization.
Chavin began in the Amazon. And so it is fitting that the first mesa of the Chavin initiation be received in the heart of the Amazon
from whence Chavin sprang ...the Serpent Mesas of the Lower World ... the world of deep soul, deep wisdom, and deep healing which is Madre Amazonia.
