This is the preface of a new book about reptiles, dinosaurs. dragons and futureps. In this website will be excepts and abridged selections found in the book which is in the final stages of rewrites.
Question: What exactly is a dragon?
Answer: All reptile life forms that ever lived, might have lived, or will ever live is part of the Tribe of the Dragon exploration saga. We thus call them all dragons whether greater or lessor.
Question: Then
why not just call them all reptiles?
Long Answer But Important: Its all a matter of bad PR. Mention
snakes, a well known type of reptile, and you get very negative responses from
most. Mention dinosaurs and you usually get ohs and ahs. But then people pause
and remember that they all died off like the Dodo bird. Of course they forgot
dinos lasted 150,000,000 years longer than humans so far. But mention dragons
and you get one of two responses. Wow, cool. I love them. Do you think
they really existed? Or you get Dragons are evil.
The last response is of course because some time in the Middle Ages churches
needed a badboy poster creature to whip the heathens into line and snakes and
dragons seemed like the perfect match.
But you have to stop for a minute and remember that many of these are the same
people who brought us the Inquisition, burned harmless woman as witches, tried
to kill all cats which may have caused the Black Plague to be so devastating,
and fought bloody wars throughout Europe and the Middle East for centuries over
obscure differences (to us now) in religious piety and beliefs.
What then will this book
look at? All things dragon, from the first reptile to crawl onto the land, to
where the reptile dragons are today, and into possible futures. They are all
part of the Tribe of the Dragon.
And we will look at the side of dragons that very few have heard of. Much is
anecdotal, some is science, and some is what we would call esoteric. But all
are used as a valid source and I will try and be clear on which is which. Knowledge
is where you get it and this author is not shy about looking into unusual areas
in the quest for knowledge on the Tribe of the Dragon.
Answer: They apparently did, do and will.
Question: Do current reptiles er, or uhm dragons have emotions? Can a reptile learn to love?
Answer: There are many stories that strongly indicate this may be possible. We will look at some of them.
Question: Do living dragons have feelings?
Answer: There is no question that some more advanced ones demonstrate what some people would call remorse, rage, revenge, and tenderness.
Question: Can dragons solve complex problems?
Answer: Here too there are some indications of a higher degree of intelligence than we give them credit for. The exact nature of intelligence is illusive and is usually very homocentric or human based. But dont forget that dragons have lived for at least 230 million years. We will look at this subject also.
Dragons as dragons and
reptiles as symbols of dragons have been worshipped as Gods, credited with forming
the earth, and vilified as destroyers, killers, and as being the devil incarnate.
One thing nobody disputes, though, is that reptiles & dragons cause strong
emotions when brought into any conversation. And well they should. They are
our elder brothers. They have been on this planet far longer then any human
or even any mammal. And they are perhaps our most ancient of teachers.
What this book is not about is a completely scientific and mundane look at the
subject. Let me disclaim right now any claims that this is a completely rational
and scientifically unbiased study on the subject.
Mundane science is unfortunately limited as a tool and can not prove that animals
have any feelings at all that are not hardwired by their genetic codes. Mundane
thinking and logic can not even tell us if our pets love us or miss us if we
go away.
Nor can science demonstrate that cats and dogs can knowingly find their way
home after being lost a thousand miles away on a vacation, consciously save
their human friends from fires, or do any kind of altruistic acts although there
seems to be many such documented stories.
And finally science just simply can not answer such important human questions
as Is there a God, is there life after death, and "Do
we really love our mate or is it just a programmed biological response?"
This is absolutely not a knock against science which can be a great tool, only
to point out that most people do not use the scientific method to solve most
of the fundamentally important questions that are of extreme interest to humans
at this point in our evolution.
Instead of just science we are going to look at all avenues that provide us
with any information, knowledge, or possible answers to the questions we have
posed above as well as many others such as "Why were the dinosaurs so successful,"
"Is there any possibility of the validity to the myths of Dragons,"
Why do more people in the Amazon dream of snakes or dragons then any other
creature, and "Does my Iguana really love me?"
To do this we are going to look at this subject from a completely different
perspective. We will not ask the question as did Dragons exist but
rather If dragons existed where are the clues and what does it really
mean?
Still other questions we will explore are Is that hawk flying overhead
really just a modern dinosaur? And if Dragons really existed did they evolve
from dinosaurs or is it the other way around? Why do so many stories of the
creation of the world have to do with dragons?
Here is an interesting tidbit to demonstrate directions we will take in Tribe
of the Dragon. We will certainly look at mundane science opinions but that will
only be the beginning. The existence of a Universal Flood Story such as that
of the biblical Noahs ark story which is believed or thought possible
by 78% of Americans according to a recent poll. And yet world wide as well as
in North America there are far more belief in stories or myths involving dragons
than universal floods.
In order to keep some order in this book we will look at the Tribe of the Dragon
with some interesting characters. The first is Safari Sam who will be a more
or less scientific or mundane observer along the path. The other guides will
be various dragons who will simply show the reader a different perspective on
what is being explored.
To help you the reader understand what is coming in this book I ask that you
simply suspend your disbelief for a little while. Instead ask yourself the question,
"Does this make any sense and could it have happened? All I ask is
that you take a look at this compilation of information and then come to your
own conclusion" This is after all a "yeah, but what if....."
kind of book.
This book contains much information recently brought into the light that no
one has looked at before or not looked at as I am presenting it. And there is
information that has long been available but that is being looked at in a new
way due to missing pieces of the puzzle just recently becoming available.
Lets cut to the chase. Dragons are all around us. They are in the
sky, in the waters, our writings, movies, our dreams, our nightmares, and all
about the land we walk on. Their presence in our past history has been significant.
They played a major role in our evolution and development as a species. Their
effect on our current civilization is major. Their effect on the psyches of
all mammals including humans is undeniable and highly significant. Biologically,
all human babies during part of their fetal development in the womb are for
a time dragons.
This book will look at how these creatures effect us now, in the past, and possibilities
for the future. But the one question you want answered right now before you
will consider reading any further is Did the so called Wise & Magical
Flying Dragons once exist?
The answer may shock you but it is yes, I believe they did. And you can make
up your own mind after reading further. But that is the old news to a great
many peoples of the planet Earth who understand this part through philosophical,
religious, or intuitive training.
The really new and startling information that incredibly came up during the
30 years of research for this subject is that they just may still be here and
there if you know when, how, and where to look? Is that worth reading on to
find out about? Are you prepared to look at reality in a new way? What have
you got to lose other than old prejudices and old ways of seeing things that
hold back your true understanding of reality.
Bon appetite.
