Blood was in the air. I could taste it. And it was making me too excited to hold my position. And I knew my kin would be feeling exactly the same. And this could spell disaster. We must have warm meat soon for everybody or we would be too weak to continue hunting as a group. Then we would start to turn on each other, and some kin would die and perhaps others hurt. I could not allow that to happen. It was my job as peacemaker to see that this never happened. Out very existence depended on our strong kin bonding.

We were nothing as individuals. We could not compete in this highly competitive land except for one factor. As a group we were nearly invincible. Some adversaries were faster. Others were bigger. And still others were perhaps smarter. But none could best the kin when we worked together. And today was Valentine’s day which every member of the kin had instilled in their genetic memory.
